Meet IACA's new Management Committee (2023)
The Indigenous Art Centre Alliance (IACA) recently elected a 'new-look' Management Committee at our recent Annual General Meeting, ushering in continued strong leadership and a majority Indigenous Committee!
Mr Solomon Booth (pictured), a renowned Torres Strait Islander artist and Chair of Moa Arts, was re-elected President of IACA for another year. Joining him as returned members of the Management Committee are:
• Adam Boyd, Art Centre Manager for Moa Arts (returned as Treasurer),
• Bereline Loogatha, Gallery Manager for Mornington Island Arts (returned as Secretary),
• John Armstrong, Art Centre Manager for Mornington Island Arts (returned as Committee Member),
• Florence Gutchen, artist with Erub Arts (returned as Committee member).
Joining the IACA Management Committee for the first time are:
• Whitney Casey of Girringun Art Centre (newly-elected Committee Member),
• Gabe Waterman, Art Centre Manager for of Aurukun’s Wik & Kugu Art Centre (newly-elected Committee Member).
Mr Booth remarked on how supportive the membership have been and how electing two new members to the Management Committee is a clear “show of faith” that the organisation’s future and growth is supported by the membership. He also thanked both the Queensland Government and Commonwealth Government for their continued support for the organisation.
