IACA Board
IACA is governed by a majority First Nations Board, whose leadership, cultural authority, and lived experience anchor the organisation’s strategic direction. This Board—comprised of artists, artsworkers, and Art Centre Managers—ensures that IACA’s priorities remain firmly grounded in the aspirations and requirements of its member art centres. Their collective expertise provides strong industry representation and reinforces IACA’s role as a trusted, culturally led peak body.
To further strengthen governance excellence and manage organisational risk, the Board has appointed two non-member Directors with specialist expertise in finance and legal. Their independent advice supports rigorous decision-making and upholds IACA’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and best practice.
As part of its broader commitment to sector integrity, IACA requires all member art centres to be governed by First Nations–led boards or advisory bodies and to be signatories to the Indigenous Art Code. These standards safeguard the integrity of the art centre model, uphold the reputation of the sector, and position IACA members as leaders in ethical practice, cultural strength, and community-led governance.
